As cars get smaller and interior space becomes more valuable, the demand for small enclosures grows. The challenge is to create subwoofers that can operate in reduced enclosure volumes without sacrificing extremely low bass. The new CompVR from Stillwater Designs delivers all the sound quality and durability of its legendary predecessor, the KICKER Competition, yet requires an enclosure 20-30% smaller than before.
The KICKER Competition subwoofer has long been a standard for bass reproduction in automotive applications. The new CompVR retains the former's distinctive voice while meeting the public's demand for a smaller box. Volume requirements range from a relatively tiny 2.2 cubic feet for the mammoth 18-inch C18d to 0.3 cubic feet for the 6.5-inch C6.5d.
Other improvements include a newly-formulated cone and beefed-up suspension system for increased durability and resistance to distortion.
